Vi Nickalls

People and Culture Lead

Vi Nickalls is a human resources professional from Toronto, Canada. She has worked in people operations at the enterprise level, and as an HR Business Partner to leaders of startups and SMBs across a variety of industries. Vi’s passion in HR is for progressive programs and solutions that challenge traditional power structures; her vision is to change the perception of HR from a department that protects the business to one that serves the people that make up our organizations. Outside of work, Vi is a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt and proud parent to the two objectively cutest kittens alive.

Shlomit Berman

Social Media

Shlomit Berman is the CAN Social Media Lead. With a background in English Literature she is a writer, editor, and producer for podcasts and radio. Currently, Shlomit is a producer and editor for the independent project The Complaint Department. Shlomit is passionate about internet culture and communities, an ice cream connoisseur, and lives with her cat, Asmodeus and pet husband.

Chad Trate

Reporting

Chad is a business analyst from the Chicago area with 10+ years experience with process engineering and documentation. Having been a community member of the skeptical podcasting universe for a decade, he is dedicated to making sure such spaces are inclusive and safe for everyone. In his spare time he climbs, he writes about masculinity, and does his best at karaoke — his partner and cat think he’s great.

Megan Burk

Victim Advocacy Lead

Megan Burk is a certified victim advocate with the DoD and has certification pending for National Advocacy Certificate Program (NACP). She currently lives in Virginia with her spouse and their Golden Retriever and two cats.

Ashlyn Wolff

Investigations

Ashlyn is the investigations lead for the organization. She has a Master Degree in School Counseling and has experience as a special education teacher and child welfare investigator. She has worked in the field of child welfare for over a decade. When not working, Ashlyn spends her time trekking and traveling.

Chris Mruzik

Mediations

Chris Mruzik received his J.D. and a specialization certificate in ADR from University of Missouri school of law in 2016. He studied comparative alternative dispute resolution at the university of western Cape in Cape town, South Africa. He spent two years teaching English in China. He now lives in Columbia, MO with his partner Shannyn. He has a passion for all European style board games and has amassed a library of them.

Kaitlyn Boykin

Research and Education

Kaitlyn is a psychologist with 5 years of experience researching social relationships, including methods for mitigating sexual violence and victim-blaming attitudes. They are currently getting their PhD from The University of Southern Mississippi. After growing up in the Bible Belt, Kaitlyn became involved in the online atheist community in 2016 when looking for other atheists to connect with. Outside of work, they enjoy traveling, concerts, and playing music.

Kat Morris

Board Member

Kat lives in Northern Virginia and works for the federal government. She is the founder of Have We Met? whose signature event Dinner with Strangers, brings together eight strangers for a two-hour dinner full of engaging conversation. In the off chance she is not working, she enjoys reading, listening to podcasts, and writing about nothing.

Heather Larew

Board Secretary

Heather is the secretary of CAN. She spent most of her working career in the legal field as a secretary/paralegal and strongly believes in victim advocacy.

Alisha Koch

Board President

Alisha is a mother to two boys and seasoned project manager. She studied athletic medicine and played volleyball in college. After graduation, she joined the Army as a Combat Medic where she assisted the Army and Air Force with routine health and combat readiness. After she separated, she launched a business creating and selling custom cakes so she could stay at home with her boys while they were young. Once the youngest entered school, she began her current career path in the financial services industry. She currently implements the US product offering for an international financial technology company.

Alisha has been involved with online and in-person atheist spaces since 2012. She has volunteered for many events, served as moderator for multiple spaces, and worked for a few of our community’s popular podcasts.

Alisha is also a domestic violence survivor both as a child and an adult. In her personal time, she helps step people out of abusive relationships and connects them with resources in their area. She wants to bring that experience to this organization by educating creators about abuse before they cause harm, promoting positive and enthusiastic consent as the standard, establishing codes of conduct in social and parasocial spaces, providing resources and support to victims, and creating meaningful consequences for creators that victimize our community members.

Scuba Instructor, Dog Mom, Professional IT drone for 20+ years and avid listener of podcasts. I’m happy and excited to lend my decades of IT experience in helping CAN succeed in its mission.

Aaron Rabinowitz

Ethics Director

Aaron Rabinowitz is an ethicist with 10+ years experience teaching about human flourishing. He has a BA in philosophy from the University of Virginia, a Masters in philosophy from Colorado State University, and is currently working on a PhD in education at the Rutgers Graduate school of Education. In his dissertation he advocates for Luckpilling, a new approach to teaching about luck that helps people accept the taboo truth that everything is luck, all the way down. He argues that internalizing this taboo truth is essential to the progressive social justice agenda and has profound implications at the personal and societal level. When he’s not trying to luckpill the world, Aaron’s other interests include AI ethics, antisemitic conspiracism, values centered community organizing, and tai chi. Aaron also hosts two philosophy podcasts, Embrace the Void, and Philosophers in Space with co-host Callie Wright. His work aims to make philosophy accessible and useful to everyone.

Sam Buck

Operations Director
Board Treasurer

Sam P. Buck is a neuroscientist from the Boston area, serving in dual roles as board treasurer and operations director. He’s formally trained in both engineering and psychiatric neuroscience, having spent many years as an engineering project manager and scientific laboratory coordinator in addition to nonprofit leadership work. He came to CAN as a longstanding member of close-knit fan communities, and is particularly interested in using nonprofit models to provide valuable, high quality services with no conflicting incentives. In his free time, he enjoys cooking, sailing, and the company of his amazing friends.

Sarah Tulien

Sarah Tulien serves the Creator Accountability Network as its executive director, and as a member of the board. She has over ten years of experience in building and managing several online communities. She has also been a k-12 music teacher for the past 17 years, and is a mother to 3 young kids. In her free time, she volunteers with several children’s organizations, as a leader, teacher, and fundraiser.
